The SHMP presents a comprehensive planning vision for reduction of risks and improved resiliency related to the numerous natural hazards that have potential to impact Commonwealth socio-economic well-being. This plan was prepared in accordance with requirements set forth in the Disaster Mitigation Act (2000) as amended, and criteria set forth by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, and is formally adopted by the Governor of the Commonwealth.

As part of CNMI Public Law 20-20, OPD is mandated to establish and maintain the CNMI Data Library, which went live in 2019. The library serves as a centralized hub for collecting and storing data, plans, reports, and other related documents for use by the CNMI’s planning agencies, lawmakers, and the general public.
