CNMI Office of Planning and Development Launches Roadmap to Recovery Survey

Residents’ participation is vital to shaping the future of the CNMI

ANNOUNCEMENTS | November 15, 2024

The Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI) Office of Planning and Development is pleased to announce the launch of the Roadmap to Recovery Survey, part of the broader Marianas Economic Recovery project. This survey aims to gather critical resident feedback to guide strategies for strengthening the CNMI’s economy and enhancing the overall quality of life for residents.

The Marianas Economic Recovery project was created in response to the significant challenges posed by Super Typhoon Yutu and the COVID-19 pandemic. This initiative is designed to foster sustainable economic growth by identifying a roadmap that identifies essential resources, opportunities, and obstacles and includes the following key areas of focus:

  • Community and Workforce Development
  • Economic Diversification
  • Sustainability and Resilience

Through a combination of community outreach initiatives, stakeholder engagements, and in-depth research, the project works to build a resilient economic future for the CNMI that aligns with the region's long-term goals.

How the Survey Works

Starting on November 18, 2024, CNMI residents may receive a phone call from the Office of Planning and Development with an invitation to participate in the survey. Calls will begin with an official message – “This is a survey from the Office of Planning and Development” – and residents are encouraged to participate and share their thoughts. All responses will remain confidential.

Participation Matters

By participating in the Roadmap to Recovery Survey, residents will have the opportunity to influence strategies for economic revitalization, job creation, and future growth for the CNMI. Community input is vital to ensuring that residents’ voices are represented in the economic planning that will affect their future.

This Statewide Planning Grant project is made possible through funding provided by the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), with support from our federal grantor, the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA).
