Department of Public Lands

Since its inception in 1979, the current Department of Public Lands (DPL) has taken giant steps in having an active role in the care taking, management, and disposition of public lands in the CNMI. On February 22, 2006 Public Law 15-2 enabled the administration to assume control of the former autonomous agency, the Marianas Public Lands Authority (MPLA) thus allowing a time of reflection and clarification of corporate objectives within the agency. DPL's mission is to develop and adopt a strategic land use plan that promotes cultural and economic growth for the benefit of our present and future generations.
