To the Tinian Community: participate in the solid waste collection study from March 6-10, 2023!

BLOG POST | February 22, 2023

From March 6 to 10, 2023 a solid waste management consulting firm will be on Tinian to conduct a solid waste collection study to examine the average trash produced by Tinian’s businesses and households over a one-week period. Please review the flyer, the collection schedule, and maps attached below to learn more.

The team leading this collection seeks data that accurately represents the waste generated by the Tinian community. Please continue with your regular trash disposal habits as this will help the team collect good data!

The data collected through this waste collection study will support the Tinian Zero Waste Pilot Program and the development of the CNMI’s Comprehensive Integrated Solid Waste Management Plan. These two projects are key pieces of interagency efforts to identify and address the CNMI’s waste reduction priorities and protect our environment.

The Integrated Solid Waste Management Taskforce thanks the Tinian community for doing their part in supporting Zero Waste initiatives on Tinian.

The Taskforce is comprised of the Bureau of Environmental and Coastal Quality, Department of Public Works, Offices of the Mayors of the Northern Islands, Saipan, Tinian, and Rota, and the Office of Planning and Development, and oversees the CNMI’s progress toward achieving Sustainable Development Goal #12: Responsible Consumption and Production.
