Happy Earth Day, CNMI!

ANNOUNCEMENTS | April 22, 2025

Happy 55th Earth Day, CNMI!

Be on the lookout for posts later this week recapping what OPD's been up to for Earth Month this year.

This year's theme is "Our Power, Our Planet", and EARTHDAY.ORG calls for renewable energy generation, globally, to be tripled by 2030.

Around this time of year, it's important to remember that celebrating Earth Day isn't limited to just April 22 or the year's designated Earth Day theme— simply put, Every Day is Earth Day.

Today and every day, OPD and the Inter-Island Solid Waste Management Task Force, under the leadership of Gov. Arnold I. Palacios and Lt. Gov. David M. Apatang, reaffirms our commitment to creating a cleaner, more sustainable CNMI for current and future generations.

A big part of what the ISWMT seeks to accomplish is the updating and development of the draft CNMI Comprehensive Integrated Solid Waste Management Plan (CISWMP).

Visit https://opd.gov.mp/ciswmp.html to view the latest draft of the plan, learn more about upcoming public hearings regarding the plan, share your thoughts and comments on the CISWMP, and stay in the loop on all CISWMP development updates.

For those considering leaving a comment through the online form, please know that the public comment period is open until May 25, 2025, 11:59pm ChST.
