Welcome to the CISWMP Info Hub!
The Inter-Island Solid Waste Management Taskforce (ISWMT) is excited to announce that the latest update to the draft of the CNMI Comprehensive Integrated Solid Waste Management Plan (CNMI CISWMP) is here and available for public review. This plan charts a sustainable path forward for the CNMI's solid waste, spanning the development, operations, and maintenance of compliant landfilling, recycling, and composting facilities for Saipan, Tinian, and Rota with considerations for scalable solid waste and recycling solutions tailored to the unique circumstances of the Northern Islands. It includes supporting activities such as education and outreach, conservation, and more.
The CNMI CISWMP was prepared under the leadership of the Office of the Governor by the Office of Planning and Development (OPD) in coordination with the Department of Public Works (DPW), the Offices of the Mayors of Tinian, Rota, Saipan, and the Northern Islands, the Bureau of Environmental and Coastal Quality (BECQ), and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
This group of partnering agencies— OPD, DPW, the Offices of the Mayors of Saipan, Tinian and Aguiguan, Rota, and the Northern Islands, BECQ, and EPA— is collectively known as the ISWMT.
