Welcome to the CISWMP Info Hub!

The Inter-Island Solid Waste Management Taskforce (ISWMT) is excited to announce that the latest update to the draft of the CNMI Comprehensive Integrated Solid Waste Management Plan (CNMI CISWMP) and the Responsiveness Summary on the May 2025 public hearings are here and available for public review.

The CNMI CISWMP charts a sustainable path forward for the CNMI's solid waste, spanning the development, operations, and maintenance of compliant landfilling, recycling, and composting facilities for Saipan, Tinian, and Rota with considerations for scalable solid waste and recycling solutions tailored to the unique circumstances of the Northern Islands. It includes supporting activities such as education and outreach, conservation, and more.

The Responsiveness Summary was prepared to comply with 40 CFR 25.8, providing a response to all feedback received from the public during the public participation period (April 1 to May 25, 2025).

The CNMI CISWMP was prepared under the leadership of the Office of the Governor by the Office of Planning and Development (OPD), in coordination with the Department of Public Works (DPW), the Offices of the Mayors of Tinian, Rota, Saipan, and the Northern Islands, the Bureau of Environmental and Coastal Quality (BECQ), and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). This group of partnering agencies is collectively known as the ISWMT.
